D... how about an update on all original group affiliates (i.e. Willie D, McBoo, Kenny Parker, D-Square, Sydney Mills, etc.)??? Also, where is Ska Danks? That joint on the H.E.A.L. album was so ridiculous and then I never heard about him again. Let me know cuzzin....Thanks....Peace.
Yo! I love the pics. I am only 24 years old, And I am in photography school. My first memories are with my older brother listening Hip-Hop on tape in the mid-80's. It was a major influence on me. I remember all that old shit. It shaped my life!! You are most respected.
I met you briefly at Danyel Smith's book signing in L.A. and appreciated you taking the time to chat with me. Your website is amazing. As an up and coming writer/photographer/musician, I can definitely appreciate it. Keep up the good work and I hope to see more soon.

My name is D-NICE..... Yeh man thats the shizall......ONE GEE... BEE
Great great!!
BDP pictures are so hard to find
on the internet! And they are absolutely great!
"My Name is D-Nice but all the girls call me Derek". I remember D-Nice's debut album:super!
At the time I also bought Ms Melodie's debut!
So whatever happened to you and Kris? That's one thing I wondered for probably 15 years. I'm sure you've been asked that question a million times but I never got the answer. Ya'll were a dope combo.
Loving the walk down Hip-Hop Memory Lane! Thank you D-Nice for sharing your world with us. Good to see you still around and making different moves. Happy birthday (although I'm trippin that you're only 2 years and a couple months older than me)!
It feels good to have legends like D-Nice blogging in the new millenium. Right on brother! Thank you for sharing your music and life. Call Me D-Nice is not only a song but an icon in MY hip hop archive or should I say, I and I's archive?
I would like to thank all hip hop artists and hip hoppers for living hip hop everyday.
That great picture of Scott La Rock & KRS has me wondering the same thing that the "Criminal Minded" cover always makes me wonder; and that is how much of the whole gun thing was real? What I mean is, I never knew if those were just theirs that they simply carried around with them all the time, or if they were borrowed specifically for the photo shoots, or if they were fake even. I've always been curious how much of that whole image was what Scott & Kris were living at the time and how much of it was just an attempt at doing something different in hip-hop. Enlightenment please?
You see, this is why this website is so dope! I love photography, I got pictures of me and my peoples when we were young, growing up and stuff, but to to see, d-nice and latifah and krs and heavy d and mc lyte is like re living hip hop through someone else's eyes. Its amazing. I am hip hop and I know how it looked from my perspective and my peoples perspectives when we made and created and enjoyed hip hop, and now I can see how hip hop looked from a totally different perspective.

Incredible history, documented. The Michael Jackson image is phenomenal...it really looks like the King of Pop was photoshopped into that image.
