The Latin Quarters Revisited
I was invited by Rolling Stone magazine to dj at their "Icon's of Hip-Hop" event last night. It was my first time in years sharing the bill with fellow hip-hop legends like Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, and Doug E. Fresh. Also in attendance were the Sugar Hill Gang, Dana Dane, Kwame, Kool Herc, Melle Mel, Greg Nice, Black Sheep, Just-Ice, Busy Bee, Grand Master Caz, Craig G, DJ Wiz, and a host of others. Let's not forget superstar managers Chris Lighty & Shakim. It totally took me back to a club called The Latin Quarters, where we all pretty much got our first start as performers. I had the entire night recorded for the new D-Nice podcast that will be live on my site starting in January. Until then, I will bless you with a clip of the Big Daddy Kane performance. This is a wonderful treat for people that have true appreciation and knowledge of Hip-Hop history. You represent one of the massive stones that make up the pyramid of Hip-Hop music. What young people have to realize is that the great pyramid has already been built. For every flow and beat of today, there is an origin of it from the early days of Hip-Hop. This is like a walk in the Valley of the Kings. Thanks for the walk.

D, I was making an M.O.P. mix cd with all their features and in the process found a 12" I had with a remix for the song Money Don't Make the World Go Round by Pudgee. It was the remix with M.O.P. and Royal Flush and Pudgee and you. Any way, long story short you ripped that track like no other and completely made me realize how dope of a lyricist you were (are). Can we get a discography on the site ??? How many other verses or songs from later in your career are out there??? Keep doin' what you do Big Homie.
Peace

Wow! The energy up in the place must have been incredible. It's great to know that many in our generation still create new & innovative works - regardless of the recent public praise of mediocrity (media-hype:-). It was a pleasure to finally meet you, D (while your daughter kept you company:-) at the 40/40 club about a month ago during one of your Sunday football party gigs! Keep Doin' IT as u inspire the rest of us to continue creating, also!
I agree with alycia that your self portrait is quite Nice!
