A Weekend In My Life

How was your weekend? Please allow me to share with you what I had going on. My weekend officially started on Thursday. I was out in Detroit rocking a party with my boy Kenny Burns. Now if you've ever attended a party where Kenny and I both rock, you know that you are going to experience pure good music and a lot of laughs! KB is truly the funniest dude on the mic. While on our way to the event, we drove by an anti-Bush demonstration. Trust me when I tell you... it was serious out there. absolutely no love for G-Dub!

I returned home the next day. What's normally a quick flight ended up becoming a complete nightmare. Our plane had engine trouble, so we ended up sitting in the Detroit airport for 6 hours! Oh well, I used that time to catch up on some reading. I purchased a book on the life of Dr. Ben Carson, the director of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins. Man, his life is pretty interesting. I recommend you all read it.

On Saturday morning, I deejayed a charity event, hosted by Lisa Evers and Rick Folbaum of Fox 5 New York. The event, Rhondell's Walk, was to raise funds for research on Crohn's and Colitis. For more info on Crohn's and Colitis, log on to www.ccfa.org.

On Saturday evening, I was on double duty. First, I walked the red carpet at VH1's Hip-Hop Honors and had the chance to catch up with some of my friends. Immediately after that, I joined Wendy Williams and deejayed an event she hosted called "Alize Live" which featured performances by Keyshia Coles and Bobby Valentino. Keyshia is truly a blessed vocalist. And of course, I got busy behind the wheels!

And Sunday... FOOTBALL baby!

Holla!

Excellent photos D-Nice!! The last time I saw you in person was way back in 1988 on a show in my hometown with Stetsasonic, KRS-One, Busy Bee & Biz Markie. I was in NYC that summer at the New Music Seminar and met Daddy-O, Biz & Prince Paul and was surprised that Prince Paul remembered my face when he saw me at the show in my hometown (Grand Rapids, Michigan). Good to see you are seriously doing your hip hop thing D! You were in my area when you were in Detroit. I'm sure that the people in Detroit were feeling you and Kenny! Thanks for the great hip hop memories. Check out my blog for vinyl spinning DJ's

Well done D-nice. Marley's shirt was a nice dis to Fly Ty, a lil salt on the wound after he got the publishing back.

Remember when Todd 1 and MC Lyte were married? What is he up to lately. Last I heard of him he had produced that Hip Hop freestyle competition that aired on Showtime a few years back.

WOW fantastic HHH shots! Marl and Preemo were up in Boston for Milestones 2006 and our pics with them they have the SAME EXACT hats on! That is awesome.

Your work is so incredible. Are you ever going to do prints/posters for general sale? Please let me know if you do make them available, even as limited edition, so I can spread the word!

Todd 1 and MC Lyte?!?! You do realize that you are documenting history, right? I still can't get over scrolling these beautiful photos and seeing Todd 1. I LOVE IT! Keep it up, D...this is OURSTORY.

Important photos! I missed the Hip Hop Honor's this year maybe next year - looked like fun - heard the tapping went on past 3 AM. Anyway, I was at the Music With A Conscious Message Concert that night.

Good to see you Wed. at Lotus amongst all that mayhem. I also had a great time at Hip Hop Honors. Nothing like the pioneers of this game. Wish there were more of them. ?uestlove & the band - AMAZING! glad u caught that shot!

The pics you took were dope. I can't believe I saw Pebblee Poo!! Wow!! I haven't seen her since 87.

Great pics (As Usual)...I love the protest pics. The guy on his knees with his head covered is a hell of a statement. I also love the pic of Todd 1 and MC Lyte...she has always been my favorite female MC!!

And you didn't ask but I'll tell you anyway LOL!!! My weekend? Well I flew to Richmond, VA on Thursday to be in my sorority sisters wedding on Friday night, then I flew back to Atlanta on Saturday morning to be in another sorority sisters wedding on Sunday. I was on bridesmaid duty all weekend. Thank God I was off on Monday and was able to get a little rest. My flight back to the "A" was some shyt cause of the weather but I made it back safely and I'm back on the grind today...such is life.

Be Blessed!!!

I will snap my camera ever chance I get!!ha ha

Instead, I went to a local party in my neighborhood... It was pretty cool! I had to leave early because of the nature of the party and I needed to get ready for church the next day... (Yes, I am a church girl who loves the Lord).

Again, D, I love your photos and I will always read your emails ever chance I get...

Ps. Birthday Shot-out to all Libra's
My birthday 10/13!!

Oh, yeah and Happy Birthday to me on this coming Wednesday. I just wanted to put that out there, ya know. This blog was a good way to start my birthday week! I generally celebrate myself at least the whole month of October. Keep it crackin.

Nice. Thanks for sharing your weekend. I'll share my less glamorous events:)

I recommend Walter Mosley's Walkin' the Dog for a good, quick read. I held my first real estate open house this weekend and it was rather slow so I read. Then I got home and couldn't put it down so I got the whole book read by lights out...if you haven't already read it. It's a good'n and now I'll likely read his other books.

I got some work done on the website I'm trying to build for my business. Argh! I wish I could afford to hire United Camps to get it up and runnin for me:) but it's coming along and I'm learning a lot. Last week I got all of my old 3/4" footage from years passed transferred onto mini dv tapes hurray...it's all digitized. Whew! That was a feat. Now what to do with it??? LOL

Good to see the protestors.

I like the quote of the week that you chose. I have a few that I found over the weekend. I would like to share this one with you.

"Whatever we believe about ourselves and our ability comes true for us." ~ Susan L. Taylor (editor in chief Essence magazine)

That idea has been expressed by others, however I thought this was most eloquent.

Peace & Blessings, Mr. Jones!

You are the man! Loved the fact that you were on the carpet. great story about Lyte. She told the same one in the piece..i was saving that for you to actually hear in the house.I produced and co-directed thos epieces, beyaaaatch!!! ;-) anyways... And your photography was a large topic of conversation between me and some good friends yesterday. I'm blessed and very fortunate to have met and known the TR808. you are a wonderful human being, my friend.

Now those are some faces I haven't seen in a while. Your site gives real hip hop heads a place to come home to.

love that these are in b&w...adds a timeless quality to them!

Your photos make me feel like I was in the crowd!

Great pics D!
