Leica M8 Photoblog (6): Chip Fu - A True Fu-Schnick

ABOVE: Chip Fu
I finally reconnected with one of my old friends, Mr. Chip Fu of the Fu-Schnikens. Chip and I used to work together back in the day when Tony Rahsaan and I had a company together called 40th Street Black Management where we directed the careers of artist like Fu-Schnickens, Organized Konfusion, Special Ed and Craig G. A few bad decisions caused us all to part ways but we all still have respect and appreciation for one another.
Last week, Tony asked me if I would photograph Chip for his new project. How could I say no? What was so amazing about the hooking up with Chip was that during our conversation, he shared with me that a few years ago he went back to school to study physical therapy and had recently received his degree. It's always wonderful to hear stories of fellow old-school rappers finding life after rap. Chip is currently working on a reggae/hip-hop fusion CD and expect to have it done before the summer. You can find Chip on myspace at www.myspace.com/chipfu

I am so happy that I found this journal. I was searching for photos of Harlem back in the days and somehow found you. This site makes me feel like the end isn't near. Everything else kinda gives me a dooms day felling. I'd love to find out if you have any photos of Rucker, 125th (when the vendors were out there) or the block parties in the Polo Grounds. That's where I'm from.
P.S.
Aren't you related to the Harrison' from building one?lol

Does Chip-Fu have a MySpace page or a blog or something? I would LOVE to hear some of his new music. That song that he did on Ali Shaheed Muhammed's CD a few years back was absolutely Gangsta!! Plus, the Fu-Schicks were some of the rawest lyrically back day. "Ring The Alarm" is STILL in my top favorite songs......
