During The Storm - The Lost Katrina Photos

ABOVE:
On August 25th, 2005, Hurricaine Katrina hit Miami. On that day, I was in Miami for the MTV Music Awards and was staying at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel South Beach. At the time, I was unaware of how severe the storm was and decided to take a walk on the beach and take some pics. Here are some images from that day.

As always your pictures are phenomenal. My mother is from New Orleans so this was very personal for our family. Fortunately all my family there was spared, but their homes weren't. I have a poem on myspace called "The Good News" inspired by Katrina, I hope to go there this year and share it with them. There are people out there still with nothing, no hope, no life, nothing but despair. We need more people like you who shed light on a still devastating situation. Just because it's not in the news anymore doesn't mean everything's ok....God bless you for who you are, what you do and how you inspire others.

The surfer's picture would be a great visual metaphor for life's difficult choices.

I love the irony "no lifeguard on duty". Wow. Reminds me of the whole FEMA thing.
The one on top looks like an ad for surf boards or shorts or some really strong hair gel or something. Did you enhance the colors on that one?
There's something deep about that one with the strong heavy metal bleachers on the sand other than it just being a great shot...but I can't put it into words exactly. Somehow, it contrasts permanency against adaptation.
Thanks for diggin through your "crates" and sharing.
